A beautiful warm day greeted the many people that participated in the 2017 parade and memorial service. It was nice to see so many groups of people lining Main Street from St. Clement Church down to the Veteran’s Memorial Park at the corner of Main and Broad Street. Led by the Matawan Regional H.S. Marching Band, Al Savolaine, the proud veteran and Grand Marshall was driven in a beautiful convertible. He was in good company with state and local officials, veterans, classic cars, the Matawan-Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce, The Matawan Historical Society, drum and fife corp band, and fire, police, EMT members in their vehicles and many children marching proudly with their troops or teams kept the spectators engaged and entertained.
